About this deal

i recommend this film to anyone interested in seeing characters of twisted morality caught in a labrynth of urban hell and unhappy relationships. Highly recommended, especially if you have or have ever had any interest at all in Latin, or in raising your learnèd English to a new level!

So, in the contemporary age of cultural chaos and multi culturalism, it is well to dwell on the language that helped to establish the cultural identity of Western Europe for more than one and a half millenia.I think it is sad that Latin persists in being a subject which is only taught at a small number of schools, and year by year that small number gets even smaller. The language was fascinating, but sadly the Master who taught it was the meanest teacher in the whole school. The fact that such upper class twatness can still sell in a country of chavs and council states is a matter of profound puzzlement for me and, may I add, joy at the fact that I have left such strange place once and for all. Amo amas amat, quid pro qou, momento mori, ad infinitum, sprinkle on some of the grated cheese and leave under the grail until doomsday. If you studied Latin at school this will bring back fond memories, but even newcomers will be captivated by this witty and entertaining book.

Know Latin and - mirabile dictu - you will know Wilfred Owen's misery, Catullus's aching heart and the comedy of a thousand bachelor schoolmasters. This seller has been dependable and prompt for multiple transactions now, furthering my trust in them.Would be of interest to those who did latin at school and for those who are interested in learning latin.

In 2002, World of Books Group was founded on an ethos to do good, protect the planet and support charities by enabling more goods to be reused. I read reviews of the book, and although I didn't do Latin at school, I knew it would be fun to develop the scant Latin I knew and would no doubt increase my vocabulary in English and other European languages. I had the book for decades and think I've flipped through it casually a number of times over the years. It won't be any help at all if you don't knw any Latin - the explanations are nowehere near clear enough - but if you have done some Latin its a fun way to remind yourself of it.

Round Table Books specializes in Rare, Antiquarian and Collectible Books, particularly in the areas of History, Art, Arthurian History and Literature, Napoleonic Biography and History, Poetry, and illustrated editions of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. An entertaining account of the use of latin in contemporary culture, some examples being completely left field.
