About this deal

How did the once able and well-respected administrator from York degenerate into the despicable monster portrayed by More and Shakespeare?

The reader is left with the interesting conundrum of whether we can believe anything we read about the past unless it is written by a real live witness and backed by evidence. And in this case, the Tudors are still thought of as great, but apart from Elizabeth ( whose survival while she was young was pretty much chance) the Tudors were vile. The Daughter of Time is a 1951 detective novel by Josephine Tey, concerning a modern police officer's investigation into the alleged crimes of King Richard III of England. He also studies faces and uses his intuition to help him figure out who did what when it comes to crime. However, the alternative version that she presents is one where Richard is whiter than white, and the Tudors were the bad guys. Both Tanner's history and the novel are non-existent; it has been suggested that the title of the latter is derived from Guy Paget's 1937 biography of the same name.

Re-reading this marvellously entertainingly presented history lesson this time, forcefully struck me by its topicality. He reaches a conclusion that it would be difficult to disagree with, and that version does not match the high school history books. She was born in Inverness in 1896, and taught physical education for a number of years before the success of her first book, The Man in the Queue, in 1929. Now the debate is on as to where the remains should be buried, personally I think he should be interred in the cathedral at Leicester, as he's been in the parish for 500 years. Assisted and hindered in turns by his tyrannical nurses, a glamorous actress and an American student, Grant unearths a surprising quantity of evidence. Please don't be put off by the fact that this is about such a confusing time in English history, or what you know from your schooldays about Richard III, or even by the fact that all the action takes place in Grant's hospital bedroom.
