Room: 15'x12'x10' | MLP at 107" Video: JVC RS2100 | Stewart ST130 G4 114" 16x9 Audio: Denon AVR-A1H running 9. Now, before you start to freak out, it’s going to be a give and take situation, and isn’t NEARLY as egrigious as Indiana Jones, Oblivion or War of the Worlds.

Surrounds are light and airy, dancing around the sound stage and allowing the listener to just get sucked in. It seemed like lots of time passed and every now and again I found myself wondering whatever happened to that Tom Cruise/Emily Blunt flick? It’s located just slightly in front of the left/right speakers within the acoustic space it occupies within the soundstage. On his next reboot on life he seeks her out and tells her what she said on the battlefield yesterday. A quick comparison of the new 4K picture against the included 1080p Blu-ray (which is the same disc as released previously) easily illustrates the improvements that even an upscaled 4K picture can bring.

The first time I saw it, I really liked it, but I was kind of tired so I decided to go back for a second viewing.

Cruise plays William Cage, an army major who finds himself seconded to the United Defense force in London. The Omega can actually manipulate time and every time one of the commanders is killed it resets the day, and then they can repeat what happened, but with fore knowledge so that they can exterminate their prey. That constant engagement of the surrounds extends to the surround and back channels, with the opening beach landing now a swirling multi-dimensional cacophony of sound as blades roar, soldiers fly and explosions thunder across all eleven speakers. Calibrated with Calman color calibration software and Portrait Displays C6 HDR2000 colorimeter from Portrait.Humanity has come to the brink of genocide, as an alien race, known as the Mimics, have landed on Earth and are doing their best to exterminate the human race.

Runtime: 113 mins Subtitles: English, German, Italian, Cantonese, Castilian Spanish, Complex Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Hindi, Hungarian, Korean, Latin Spanish, Norwegian, Parisian French, Polish, Romanian, Simplified Chinese, Swedish. Even quieter, more dialogue-driven moments sustain the 3D envelopment with subtle yet audible ambient effects circling all around and moving overhead. Likewise, secondary hues are more full-bodied with a spirited selection of earth tones and tans while the warmer yellows and deep, fiery oranges make for an eye-catching spectacle. If there’s anything that cinema in the 21st century has taught us is that you can’t keep a good groundhog down.Much like they did with War of the Worlds, a high-pass filter has been applied to the mix, maddeningly cutting off the low-end at 30Hz ( bass chart) for the entirety of the movie. The stylized cinematography also benefits from a pleasing boost in the contrast and brightness balance although whites remain relatively controlled and subdued, providing the visuals with a deliberate somber and overcast appeal, but they are nonetheless clean and crisp throughout.
