About this deal

Regardless of whether the Service offers the functionality to contribute, you are solely responsible and liable for any content and information that you create, upload, post, publish, link to, duplicate, transmit, record, display or otherwise make available on the Service or to other Members, such as chat messages, text messages, videos, audio, audio recordings, music, pictures, photographs, text and any other information or materials, whether publicly posted or privately transmitted (“Contributions”). Hibiki as a Suntory brand was launched in 1989 to celebrate the art of Japanese whisky-making…as I said in my Hibiki Harmony review, I consider this a perfect expression of that, with delicacy, intention, complexity, and clarity all falling into place. This lot is being sold by either; 1) a non-UK seller or 2) a VAT Registered Business, and is therefore subject to VAT. I usually do not add water to whiskies at 40-43% ABV, but I thought I'd give it a go and was pleasantly surprised! The distillery takes pride in its commitment to the "Yamazaki Philosophy," which combines the meticulous selection of raw materials, distillation methods, and cask maturation to create a symphony of flavors.

A fantastic Japanese blend, made with aged malt and grain whiskies from Suntory's three distilleries. g."soapy" is most definitely not the product of oxidation, but a defect in production and quality control. Overall: A beautiful Japanese blend that drinks like a lightly peated Highland Scotch with more body. Hibiki whisky is known for both its quality and its distinctive fluted bottle; the 24 facets represent the 24 seasons in a Japanese year.Furthermore, we may (without prior notice and without giving reasons) change, delete or alter any Contributions, whether in whole or in part, that in our sole judgment and discretion violates these Terms, is unlawful, is in any way harmful to you, Members, us, the Service or any third parties. The finish starts off fairly bitter and dry and is quite disappointing until you start getting to the aftertaste. As the first age-stated Hibiki product, it’s pretty impressive that 17 is the base age (important side note: Japanese whisky laws are notoriously lax around importing and relabeling, but by-and-large the companies otherwise abide in spirit by Scottish laws, meaning a 17-year age statement = the youngest whisky in the blend is at least 17 years old).

There I'm detecting the slightest hint of fruit, feels like pears, but I could be wrong which partially redeems the whisky. Please read our Privacy Statement for more information on our use and processing of your personal information. The name Hibiki means “resonance” and reflects the Suntory philosophy to “live in harmony with people and nature”.

Sadly though, the plum recedes also and is barely noticeable - but given the new found balance in the nose, it's not a major loss. Hibiki 17 Year Old, a globally acclaimed Japanese blend, is crafted using aged malt and grain whiskies sourced from Suntory`s renowned distilleries.and looked on some of my favorite on-line sources (Whisky Exchange and Royal Mile) to see what I could find. It's not mind blowing but it's got several flavour complexes going on which all complement each other nicely. Since its introduction, the blended (NAS), Master’s Selection (a notch up from the “regular” Hibiki Harmony), 17-, 21-, and 30-year expressions have all been introduced (the latter for their 30th anniversary in 2019).

This multi award winning blend creates a profound aroma with an elegant and mellow woody richness, accompanied by sweet long-lasting citrus flavour.Hibiki is not only Japan’s most highly awarded blended whisky, but also among the most prestigious whiskies in the world. We may, but are not under any obligation, to release new functionalities and tools or other features for the Service every now and then.
