About this deal

May have some underlining and highlighting of text and some writing in the margins, but there are no missing pages or anything else that would compromise the readability or legibility of the text. I was part of a small community of button lovers and collectors, and we all craved sparkly, rainbow additions - Emma to the rescue! and interview, with band members, Creation staff and interested parties, while maintaining an authoritative air. how Creation Records suddenly pulled-out its funding for their North American tour which the band paid for themselves (albeit in a much smaller/fewer city tour- where they were absolutely amazing in case you missed it) this book was still fascinating esp. Minus 1 star for not adding 'your door shines like gold from 'alive in the living room' comp, not giving any info on the live tracks, or the radio session (i had to look it up in ken gardners 'in session tonight' book).

I found it a great read, detailed about the bands relationships with the label and how the office politics changed at Creation (more interesting than that sounds - honest). The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. A lesser author would have slavishly documented each and every act in writing *The* Creation Records Story. Then Alan McGee has his breakthrough - he meets Oasis, sells them to the world, and it ends with McGee coming through rehab and Oasis conquering stadiums. My Magpie Eyes Are Hungry for the Prize transcends the parochial concerns of most rock biographies, although it comes steeped in them too.

Like all great music books, it makes you want to listen again to some of them - the Weather Prophets records stand up particularly well. Second time round and it's a much better read: McGee is still an awful awful man, and a McGee wired on coke is ten times worse, but the benefits of hindsight make you realise he was much sharper than he's given credit for in terms of understanding where the music industry was going. Some of the data that are collected include the number of visitors, their source, and the pages they visit anonymously. The title was inspired by a book about Creation records 'my Magpie Eyes are hungry for the prize' which in turn was taken from 'Up the Hill Down The Slope' by The Loft.

Guitarist/singer Pete Astor formed the more well-known WEATHER PROPHETS after the demise of the LOFT. A juvenile magpie sat down in front of me, I had a one-way conversation for a few seconds and it was just looking at me,” Glindemann told Guardian Australia. Starting out with twee pop Creation built a repertoire of being the best label to have jangly music. The bird sat on the concrete in front of me, and saw I hadn’t dropped the food, or I think that was what its thinking was,” he said.

I have been making sparkly buttons and treasures for a decade, and hope to continue for a long time yet - it brings me so much joy! Out of print for many years and regarded as one of the greatest music books ever written, My Magpie Eyes are Hungry for the Prize: The Creation Records Story is the definitive account of the iconic British record label, republished for the label’s 40th anniversary.
