About this deal

Aico told us that it's concerned, that it takes all matters of alarm quality and reliability very seriously, that all of its alarms are independently tested, it hasn't had a problem with these alarms since they were launched in 2010, and that it is confident its alarms meet the carbon monoxide alarms standard.

The Alarm is supplied with a twist-on mounting base which as multiple fixing points so it can be easily secured to a ceiling or wall. Using a 10-year lithium cell and built-in AudioLINK+ functionality, the alarm can monitor and signal early signs of Carbon Monoxide (CO) levels in your household.Where your alarm is installed can trigger nuisance alarms if not correctly placed, for example too close to doors or windows. From October 1st 2022, the law is changing surrounding carbon monoxide alarms in rented properties – for both the private and social sectors. But later, when we tested them with a lower but still dangerous level of the gas, none of the three alarms sounded. Powered by 10-year life sealed in lithium cell, this means you won’t need to replace the battery at any point in the life of the alarm. In one of our tests, we flooded three of the Aico alarms with a catastrophic level of carbon monoxide to which they responded correctly and sounded.

The unit can be easily fixed to a wall or ceiling due to the twist on mounting base which has multiple fixing points. When we tested this alarm, we were concerned to see that after being exposed to a large amount of CO, all three samples failed to recover and continue to detect the gas. This means you won’t need to replace the battery at any point in the life of the alarm and that the battery cannot be removed ensuring continued protection.

Your landlord will need to ensure as a tenant you have a working carbon monoxide alarm 1-3 metres away from any fuel burning appliances in a room (excluding gas cookers) and that any faults or repairs are carried out on the alarm in a timely manner.
