About this deal

The dynamic duo, Natalie Newman and her son Henry Newman have made waves in the children's book industry with their delightful and engaging " Lark the Shark" series. I was hoping the rhyme at the end of the story was shorter, something children could memorize to use for themselves. It's funny how I'm reading/watching a lot of stories intended for children of late, even though I'm in my late thirties (with no kids .

He was nervous that they would make fun of him for being scared of the dark, but instead they all came together and helped each other overcome their fears, which is what true friendship is all about. The illustrations provided so many pops of color and a variety of different sea creature that make you want to stop and look at each and every one of them. While this isn’t a Halloween book, it does deal with a subject little kids have to face on Halloween and I think it would be helpful to get kids to talk about their fears. This book can show children that there will always be other children that are feeling just like they are whether its being afraid of the dark, being scared of heights or just being sad. The book tells the tale of a friendly shark who cleans up litter from the sea and promotes environmental awareness.

We have 5 copies of Lark the Shark and Wonda the Whale to be won in our competition, which ends on World Oceans Day– June 8th 2023. This book could be read aloud and the students could come up with something they are scared of or that they worry about. When he honestly accepts his fear and confesses the fact that he is afraid of the dark, his friends agree with him and support each other. In this empowering tale about conquering nighttime fears, Clark the Shark learns how friendship can help light the way through the dark.

This will be an excellent resource in early elementary classes at the beginning of the school year to help students understand why the class has rules and why they are important. This would be a great story for a teacher to share with his/her class, as a way of introduction to the school year. They loved guessing what would happen next, and sharing their own stories about sleepovers and how to overcome fears. Clark the Shark" is a book with a full circle idea that showcases how the proper approach can have a person learn then understand enough to assist someone else because they were having the same struggles, themselves. It has no real tune attached to it, so I could only really read it instead of sing it like the book instructed. As Clark has done before, he uses a rhyme to help him not be afraid of the dark that child readers of this book may be able to adopt to help them also get over their fears.

Inkydink says that "There's a time and place for everything" and that Clark needs to remember to "Stay cool". I enjoyed how the book was about animal characters and not real people; it helps kids to see themselves without making the main character look a specific way. He gets so excited in class jumps up and down in his seat, he smells all the good food at lunch and ends up eating it all at once, and he plays so hard at recess that he sometimes breaks toys. They seemed to bring their fear on themselves by telling ghost stories and then were surprised when they were frightened. When his teacher realized Clark was upset, she approached him and reminded him, "There's a time and place for everything.

The book contains colorful illustrations along with a sweet story that contains onomatopoeia and rhyming. This could then lead on to some written activities like making up their own rhymes, including illustrations. Henry Newman from Clore Tikva Primary School, in Ilford, co-wrote ‘Lark the Shark’ with his mum Natalie, after being inspired by his school homework about pollution. Teachers can use the rhymes that Clark used, such as "when the teacher is talking, don't go walking", and incorporate them into the classroom rules to help students remember. But when the sun sets and his friends begin telling spooky stories, Clark’s voice sounds quiet and small and not brave at all.
